Our Pure Bred AKC European Bassets are $3300.00
There is a $206.00 non-refundable deposit to hold a puppy for you.
Once you have spoken to Maggie you may use the "Buy Now" button to pay your puppy deposit
Our puppies are NOT massed produced. We have a limited number of puppies available yearly.
When your puppy is born, we will place a call to you. You may decide at that time that you would like to skip that litter and wait for the next. You will not have to go to the back of the waiting list, you will be placed first in the next litter. Depending on how many puppies the dam whelps, and depending on where your name appears on the waiting list, will determine who gets to pick, at 4-weeks of age, the puppy they want. We will place videos and photos of the puppies weekly online so you can keep track of all the puppies progress and which one you fall in love with and which one you would like to welcome to your family.
Before you purchase a puppy or give us a deposit, you must call Maggie and speak to her directly. We do not ship puppies. You MUST personally come and pick your puppy up OR we offer to deliver your puppy directly to you, for more information and the cost contact Maggie directly. We also insist that you continue to use the essential oils on the puppy and the NuVet Vitamins for at least the first 2-years. This will keep your health guarantee in order. You can find both the oils and the vitamins listed under the health care page above.
Houndful Hearts is an independent Mom and Daughter owned kennel. We do not work through a
puppy broker or use anyone other than good old fashioned referrals from parents and other breeders
we respect. Even then it is Houndful Hearts decision alone on the fit between our kennel and
perspective parents. I do NOT believe in the concept of puppy brokerage. If you are told otherwise that
is NOT correct information. I do ALL my own interviewing of prospective puppy parents. I accept all my
own deposits and I place 100% of all my own puppies. I do NOT ship my puppies. I will not ship puppies,
and I feel very strongly that it is not good for them at that age to suffer the trauma of being put in the
cargo storage. Too many mishaps, accidents and human error occur to trust that your precious puppy
will be safe. I have limited puppies available during the year. I maintain my own waiting list. I DO work
with a VERY few reputable breeders. If in doubt, please call me directly. To purchase a Houndful Heart European Basset Hound please fill out the puppy
questionnaire and email it to me directly.
Please contact us and we will be happy to let you know what is available and what is coming up.
Many Blessings to you and your's.

~ Visiting Our Home ~
We take infection control very seriously!
Home visitations cannot happen prior to pups being 8 weeks old, this is due to infection control. Prior to that, pups spend most of their time sleeping and nursing, thus personalities are not evident. At 4 weeks is when those that have placed deposits can pick their pups based on what pecking order they are in. We do this through email pictures, U-Tube videos and a GO-PRO for pups; at times we will arrange a special on sight visit, NOT in the home but on the front porch.
Our Basset Moms require mass quantities of food while nursing. They are always on Probiotics. We also supplement with eggs, yogurt and meat.
Sometimes our nursing pups require extra nourishment if mom is having trouble with her milk supply. Thus, we will hand feed with a special mixture of goats milk, yogurt and eggs. All our pups and adults are on Nuvet Plus vitamins. Our pups are always plump, healthy and happy!
~ Whelping Time ~
It is typical for Bassets to deliver their pups by C-Section after a 63-day gestation period.
Basset Hound Moms require round the clock attention during the first week after whelping, as they tend to lay down on their pups. For the three weeks, mom and the pups live in our master bedroom in the whelping box. The fourth week they are moved from our bedroom to the mudroom and our family takes turns checking in on the pups. Our Basset Moms tend to have large litters. We divide the litter into 2 groups, leaving half with Mom, and half snuggling together in a crate with a heating pad. This ensures all pups are getting an equal chance for milk and allows Mom to get used to managing her large litter. Between 5 and 6 weeks they can go out for their maiden voyage of being wagoned to the yard where they can meet Dad and play each day outside, weather permitting.
