Fleas, Ticks, and Mosquito Prevention

After several emails from you I am ADDING some important information to the last letter I sent out on Flea, Tick and Mosquito spray.

Fleas can be very difficult to rid from your home, so prevention is the best medicine Eucalyptus oil or Repellant Blend (Terrasheild Oil) repels insects, fleas and ticks effectively for several hours. doTerra PURE ESSENIAL OILS are perfectly safe for You, your children and your pets.

That great things about essential oils is that each oil has several jobs. There is another option for flea prevention in your home.

Natural Flea Collar:

Mix 4 oz. of distilled water with 10 drops of Eucalyptus, 10 drops of Repellent Blend and 10 drops of Lemongrass, turmeric Essential oil.

Soak your dog’s nylon collar in the solution for 20 minutes.

Remove the collar and let it dry thoroughly before placing it back on your pet

Re-soak the collar every 2-weeks OR MORE frequently as needed

Most recent FDA warning list for Flea/Tick medication (note in European countries these pesticides (yes, they are pesticides) are completely banned).

Nexguard Spectra

These drugs are poisons that cause neurological damage, bleeding, and death. There is no antidote, and no treatment.

Another issue has also come up with Heartworm. Many of you have emailed me to say puppy is up-to-date-on shots from the Vet AND they gave puppy a heartworm pill. These pills have been RECENTLY shown and an alert has gone out from the FDA that these RX pills DO CAUSE CANCER. Heartworm is gotten by fleas and ticks laying their larva and the larva traveling to the dog’s heart. So, to prevent Heartworm you need to prevent Flea and Ticks. IF you prevent Flea and Ticks you SHOULD NOT BE giving your puppy RX heartworm medication.

I am not attempting to replace your veterinarian. My goal is to provide you and your family with options and alternatives. You can go onto our facebook page, Kyla Andrewsmcnew, to see the entire FDA article and the evidence-based article on Turmeric.

Flea, Tick and Mosquito spray

YIKES, It’s that time of year, Mosquito, FLEA and TICK season! I’m assuming of course that all my puppy parents don’t have fleas and ticks, but this works brilliantly to keep the Mosquito’s off people as well. This protocol does not work, NOR SHOULD be used for Heartworm as the worm die off happens to quickly and can kill the dog. See your Vet immediately for Heartworm.

Preventing Flea and Ticks prevents Heartworm. If your animal (god forbid) gets heartworm, oils and alternative treatments will not help. You need traditional western medicine. Think about it like this, if you break a bone, you need to see a doctor. I use vitamins, oils, good food, and exercise to help my bones be strong to prevent a broken bone. Yes, Yes, I understand that accidents happen however do you know that when older people fall and “break” their hip. What really has happened is the hip broke and the person falls as a result. Prevention and acute treatment are how we bridge allopathic medicine. If you have older dogs, I would use the NuVet joint supplement.

Below find the recipe for the Flea, Tick and Mosquito.

  • Terrashield, Peppermint and Purify. Replace Purify with Lemongrass for dogs under 30 pounds and for puppies under 3-months of age.

  • Equal drops of each. Put in a small spray bottle and spray along the spine. Spray on your hands and rub through the dog’s coat behind the ears, on chest and on stomach, on legs and on feet. Do not spray in the face or on the genital area. DO NOT DILUTE!!!

  • Apply every 5-6 hours as needed.

  • I keep mine in a 16-ounce spray bottle and spray all my kids (including Margaret) down before we go out and about for the day. I spray the skin not the fur. Start at the nape of the neck and spray to the rump.

  • This is the same recipe for human children, and it has no toxic DEET (chemicals) to it AND it really works.

  • Mosquitos love Margaret so this spray becomes her best friend during our summer hikes.

Remember: its important that you follow these protocols ONLY when using DoTerra oils. DoTerra is the ONLY digestible oils I trust.
